Hello!! I am so excited to let you all know that tomorrow I will be leaving for a three week trip to explore Southern Argentina! I will be going with other RYE students to spend time in some of the most incredible places on Earth! I will not have computer access on the trip so all the pictures will be posted when I get back.
Since my last post I've had an absolutely fabulous time! My family and I took a trip to Mar del Plata, which is the most popular beach in Argentina, although it was rather empty due to the weather. However, between family outings to some incredible restaurants, very expensive shopping malls, and time spent "siesta-ing", I managed to go spend some time on the beach.
During the last few weeks at home, I participated in the pilgrimage to the Basilica, which is an incredible event in which over 1 million people walk into over the course of 2 days and 1 night Lujan to honor the Virgin of Lujan(the patron saint of Argentina). While I only walked for a couple hours, some of the people I was walking with had been making their journey for days.
Another AWESOME thing thats happened is I found a rock climbing gym in Lujan!!!! I'm going to start climbing as soon as I get back from the south trip and I hope its something I can keep doing all year:)
In my free time I usually go out to the park with my friends ad we drink mate(traditional Argentina tea) or eat Ice cream. I have already made some really great friends and I'm so excited I'll get to spend an entire year with them!
Also, today is Mothers Day in Argentina so Happy Argentine Mothers Day to all the moms who are reading this:)
