Well, after my long awaited departure, I finally left on Monday morning, August 29. After a very long day and night of airports and terminals, I arrived in Buenos Aires Tuesday morning. There I was greeted by my Rotary Counselor, my lovely host parents, and my oldest host brother, Pedro. I spoke my first few spanish words and tried to understand what was being said to me as we left the airport. Let's just say I can't wait for the day that I can actually have a conversation. As we drove home, I got my first glimpses of the city, which is stunning, and had a decent conversation with Pedro, who speaks very good English. As we neared my new home, I was surprised to see the streets full of stray dogs, and an apparent lack of stop signs. Over the past three days, I have come to learn that Argentines get milk and mayonnaise in bags, have the most amazing steak in all the land, and are some of the most relaxed friendly people I've ever met. About the steak though… like wow. I'd heard it was amazing, but nothing could have prepared me for its deliciousness. Since i arrived, I've taken a trip to La Plata, which is the capital o the Buenos Aires province, and I've gone shopping at the grocery store, which is really quite an experience. As I try to adjust my entire lifestyle to fit a new culture, and get over the treacherous jet lag, I am finding that I like it here quite a lot. I am starting school next week on Monday, and I think that starting school and being around more people my age will greatly enhance my so far awesome experience. I don't have any pictures yet, but I promise they will be coming!!
